AfriCycle - the protoPRO for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods

Country: Zambia

Waste stream: Plastic Packaging

Description: AfriCycle is a Producer Responsibility Organization supporting the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods in Zambia. Developed in close collaboration with the regulatory bodies and industry partners, AfriCycle operates a digitally-enabled waste collection and treatment system. In its first year, the initiative aims to collect and reprocess up to 400 tonnes of post-consumer waste.

ElectroCycle - the protoPRO for Electrical and Electronic Equipment

Description:  ElectroCycle is an Extended Producer Responsibility scheme for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), operating in accordance with the highest Zambian and international standards and regulations for the safe and efficient collection and recycling of devices and appliances. With end-to-end digital traceability of operations, ElectroCycle offers its clients cost-effective compliance and support in achieving their circularity targets.

ECOTEX - the first Producer Responsibility Organization for Textiles in Africa

Description:  ECOTEX is the first organization providing Extended Producer Responsibility services in compliance with Kenya's regulatory framework for manufacturers and importers of textiles. In close collaboration with the industry associations and the national regulator, ECOTEX is building a digitally-enabled supply chain across the country to support its clients in meeting their collection and reprocessing obligations.
